About Zen Bikes

Zen Bikes was built on the principles of personal service, honesty, integrity and respect for our customers. Using what my wife Maria and I saved, begged, and borrowed; we opened our doors in April of 2010. Now each person that walks into our shop is a potential friend and partner in our growth. We often end a bicycle transaction with a “Welcome to the family!” and sometimes a toast to your new purchase. Stop by, ask questions and test our philosophy and you’ll see why we love people and people love us!

John’s Bio

For as long as I’ve worked at bike shops, customers have always asked me if I was the owner; I would humbly answer “No, I'm just the Manager”. So, what drove me to work so hard? Simply put, it was the satisfaction of seeing a customer who was happy with their purchase and the service I provided that no one else could. Thus, I always took the question as a compliment and dreamt of the day that I would run my very own bike shop.

After fourteen years of working for others, the opportunity arrived; and with a lot of sacrifice, some begging, some borrowing and with a bunch of convincing my wife—here we are. It started with a name and a philosophy; “ZEN” to me best describes the experience of riding any bike. Here at Zen Bikes we set a mood and create an environment that makes the buying experience reflect an ideal of fun, and also an environment of learning & rider development.
